Materials

• Sentences with periods, question marks, and exclamation points used correctly
• Sentences with periods, question marks, and exclamation points used incorrectly
• Pencils and paper for writing practice

Warm-Up

• Have learners look at the sentences and pick out the ones that have punctuation marks used correctly. Ask them to put their finger on the sentence with the correct punctuation mark.
• Next, have them flip the page over and look at the sentences with incorrect punctuation. Ask them to point out the sentence with the correct punctuation.

Direct Instruction
