Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to list at least 3 different ways water is used in their everyday lives.

Materials

  • Picture cards showing various examples of water usage (e.g. drinking water, showering, watering plants)
  • Chart paper and markers

Warm-up

  • Ask students if they know how water is used in their everyday lives. Allow them to volunteer answers.
  • Write the answers on chart paper.

Direct Instruction

  • Explain that water is a very important resource and is used for many different things, such as drinking, cooking, and cleaning.
  • Show students pictures or real objects representing the different ways that water is used.
  • Ask students to identify the different ways water is used. Ask them to provide examples if they can.

Guided Practice

  • Have students work in pairs or small groups to brainstorm a list of ways water is used in our everday lives.
  • Have each group share their list with the class and discuss any similarities or differences.

Independent Practice

  • Have students create a visual timeline or poster to illustrate how water is used in our everday lives. They can use pictures and/or descriptive words to show how water is used for drinking, cooking, cleaning, etc.

Closure

  • Ask students to share something they learned about how water is used in our everday lives.
  • Review the importance of water in our lives and how it is used for various purposes.

Assessment:

  • Observe students during their independent practice project and provide feedback on their understanding of the topic.
  • Collect and review the various art and craft projects that the students create as their independent practice.
