Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to compare different forms of transport and describe their advantages and disadvantages.

Materials

• Pictures or models of different forms of transport (e.g. car, bicycle, train, plane)
• A large whiteboard and markers for the teacher

Warm-up

• Show the students the pictures or models of different forms of transport and ask them to name them and explain how they are different from each other.
• As a class, create a list of different forms of transport and their advantages and disadvantages.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of transport to the students and explain that it is the movement of people and goods from one place to another.
• Show the students pictures or models of different forms of transport and ask them to name them and explain how they are different from each other.
• As a class, create a list of different forms of transport and their advantages and disadvantages.

Guided Practice

• Have the students work in pairs and give each pair a set of pictures or models of different forms of transport.
• Have the students work together to sort the pictures or models into groups based on their types of transport.
• As a class, have the students present their sorted pictures or models to the class and explain their groupings.
• Ask the students questions about the different forms of transport and why they were sorted into certain groups.

Independent Practice

• Have the students work in groups and create a collage of pictures or models of transport, using at least three different types.
• Have the groups present their collages to the class and explain their choices of transport and how they are related.

Closure

• Ask the students to summarize the main points of the lesson, including the different types of transport and how they are related.
• Review the vocabulary words used in the lesson, such as vehicle, plane, ship, and car.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the sorting and matching activities to assess their understanding of the different types of transport.
• Ask the students to write a short paragraph about their favorite type of transport and why they like it.
