Topic: Outdoors Activities

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to describe different types of activities that can be done outdoors.
• Students will be able to tell a story about a time when they went camping.

Materials

• Videos or pictures of camping adventures
• Blank paper and pencils for each student
• Pen and paper for the teacher

Warm-up

• Ask the students if they have ever gone camping before.
• Ask them to describe what they did while they were camping.
• Write their answers on the board.
• Ask the students to share any new words they learned from the discussion.

Direct Instruction

• Show the students the pictures of camping activities.
• Ask the students to name the activity shown in each picture.
• Explain that camping can be a lot of fun, but it can also be dangerous if you are not careful.
• Discuss the importance of following rules and guidelines when camping.
• Introduce the story about camping that the students will be reading.
• Read the story together as a class, pausing to discuss any words or phrases that are new or difficult to understand.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into small groups.
• Show the students the pictures of camping equipment and items.
• Ask the students to identify what each item is used for and how it is used.
• Have the students work together to create a list of things they would need to bring when camping.
• Review the list as a class and make sure everyone has everything they need.

Independent Practice

• Have the students draw a picture of themselves camping and write a sentence about what they are doing in their picture.
• Ask the students to share their pictures and stories with the class.

Closure

• Review the main points of the lesson: camping is fun, there are many different activities to do while camping, and it can be scary sometimes.
• Ask the students to share their favorite part of the lesson and why they liked it.

Assessment

• Observe the students during their independent practice and note their understanding of the material.
• Listen to their stories and ask them questions to gauge their understanding of the concepts covered in the lesson.
