Topic: Les couleurs

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to recognize and name basic colors.

Materials

• Colorful objects (such as crayons, construction paper, or toys)
• Whiteboard and markers

Warm-up

• Ask students if they can name any colors. Allow them to call out any colors they know.
• Write the names of the colors they call out on the whiteboard.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of colors to the students. Tell them that there are many different colors in the world, and that we use these colors to describe things and make them look beautiful.
• Present the color cards to the students. Ask them to look at each card and say the name of the color.
• Encourage them to repeat the names of the colors after you.

Guided Practice

• Next, present a set of colorful objects to the students. Encourage them to look at the objects and identify their colors.
• Ask them to take turns identifying the colors of the objects and saying their names.
• Help the students if they are unsure of the names of the colors.

Independent Practice

• Ask the students to choose three objects from the set and arrange them in a line.
• Have them identify the colors of their chosen objects and name them.
• Encourage them to use the correct French pronunciation for the colors.

Closure

• Review the colors and their French names with the students.
• Ask them to share something they learned about colors today.

Assessment

• Collect the students' drawings and evaluate their understanding of the colors and their French names.
